Microsoft Improves Security Practices with a Holistic Approach

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella gave a keynote speech in Washington, D.C. today about the future of computers and cyber security. He spoke of anew holistic approach that is going to bring about enhanced security for the whole enterprise.

Gone are the days of firewalls and proxies controlling your security. With mobile devices and the cloud, these barriers are basically gone. Now, end-to-end holistic approaches are needed.

Some of Nadella's key points were:

1. Protect, Detect and Respond (all endpoints are protected, period)
2. New Cyber Defense Operations Center
3. Protection for Password Attacks (with biometrics in Microsoft Passport and Windows 10)
4. Data Loss Prevention (down to the endpoint device)
5. Malware Protection
6. Advance Threat Analytics (to identify hack patterns and respond / alert)
